There are 27 colleges in the East Midlands region, including:

19 general FE/Tertiary

2 land based

3 sixth form colleges (Bilborough College, Gateway College,  and Wyggestone and Queen Elizabeth I college)

Linkage College and Portland College are Independent Specialist Colleges

East Midlands FE Colleges employ 13,000 staff; support 260,000 students, 29,000 Apprenticeships and around 19,000 employers (1)

The College libraries support learning across a wide range of general prevocational, vocational and specialist learning from Entry to HE level and across multiple sector subject areas.

Increasingly FE colleges are providing training in the workplace through Work Based Learning and Train to Gain contracts. Where it is a requirement, FE Libraries support offsite learners largely through providing access to online resources and virtual libraries.
