Health Libraries

There are 17 NHS library services across the East Midlands, together with two University health science libraries, with close collaboration between the two sectors.

Services span acute, mental health and primary care.  Health libraries support four core functions:

  • Evidence-based patient care
  • Lifelong learning
  • Commissioning and management decision making
  • Research

A Directory of health libraries, containing addresses, contact details, opening hours and other useful information, is accessible at:

www.hlisd.org

- click the Network link, then choose East Midlands NHS from the drop-down list.

Health libraries also work closely with the National Library for Health www.library.nhs.uk on a range of joint initiatives.

Libraries and Information East Midlands (LIEM) is a membership organisation, providing a strategic voice for library and information services across the East Midlands.
