University Libraries 

There are nine Universities in the East Midlands

The universities' library services support over 150,000 FTE students and staff and offer almost 12,000 study spaces from 40 library buildings

The region’s university libraries hold over 5 million catalogued items of bookstock, and more than 64,000 periodical titles (many in electronic format)

Each year they issue over 5 million items.

In 2004/5 there were 661 staff working in university libraries in the East Midlands
