Strategy: Our Vision

Our vision for library and information services in the East Midlands

Information is essential for a healthy economy, a vibrant culture and a learning society - whether its purpose is practical or creative.

  • Libraries and information servies are essential in making that information readily available when and where it is needed.
  • The library and information resources of the region should be fully expoited for the benefit of all its people.
  • It is the professional skills of the librarian and information workers that unlock the potential of the resources they manage.
  • The library and information providers in the region will be even more effective if they work in partnership.

In 2002 Libraries and Information East Midlands produced its strategy document Sharing the Future to guide the work of the organisation and to deliver the vision.

The Forward Plan published in 2005 describes our achievements and highlights our aspirations for the future.

The organisation's latest Strategic Plan for 2006 - 2009 is now available.

Libraries and Information East Midlands (LIEM) is a membership organisation, providing a strategic voice for library and information services across the East Midlands.
