The Combined Regions
The Combined Regions is a collaboration of Regional Library Organisations Members, include the Libraries and Information East Midlands, Libraries North West, Yorkshire Libraries and Information, South West Regional Library System, The British Library, National Library of Scotland, The Irish Library Council, Interlending Wales and the RNIB.
Its purpose is to encourage and assist the development of interlending and co-operation within and between the national and regional library organisations and the member libraries in the UK and Ireland.
The Combined Regions supports library resource-sharing by enabling the creation and maintenance of a union catalogue together with an inter-library loan requesting system. The union catalogue merges the library catalogues of many libraries in the member regions and elsewhere forming a unique and rich bibliographic resource.
The Combined Regions has a contractual partnership with OCLC to develop and operate the union catalogue and requesting system UnityUK.
