Welcome to Libraries & Information East Midlands
LIEM is a membership organisation that provides a strategic voice for library / information services across the region, with a long tradition of promoting partnership and co-operation.
- In 2015, LIEM undertook a fundamental review of its structure and operations, and as a result there will be significant changes to the organisation through 2016. The most noticeable immediate change will be the loss of the posts of Regional Librarian and Regional Assistant, and the closure of the LIEM office at Alfreton Library.
- LIEM will continue to support libraries by organising training. However, the interloan locations checking service will no longer be available, and other services will also be scaled back, including attendance at regional and national meetings. The LIEM Newsletter will also cease.
- Management of LIEM will transfer to the Chair of LIEM Regional Council, supported by the Treasurer and Secretary. Please see the "Contact LIEM” section for details.
- LIEM has successfully supported the development of library and information services in the East Midlands due to the tireless work and dedication of the Regional Librarian and Regional Assistant, and we thank them for the years of enthusiasm and service they have given to library sector, and wish them well.
